Frequently Asked Questions

Logistics / Technical

How many players? (Min/max, optimal number)

1-4 players, but the magic happens around 3-4. We love taking turns asking questions and racing to figure out whodunit first. Pro tip: assign roles - someone tracks evidence, someone leads interrogations. Makes it feel like a real investigation.

Do guests need accounts?

Only the host needs an account (and pays for the game). Everyone else is along for the ride - just share the room code and they're in.

What devices/browsers work? (Mobile support?)

Any modern browser with JavaScript works - desktop, mobile, tablet. We keep it accessible. If it runs Chrome, Firefox, or Safari, you're good.

Can we pause/resume mid-game?

Absolutely. Your game auto-saves constantly, so just close the tab when real life calls. You've got 24 hours to finish, but old games sit in your library ready to reactivate whenever.

What if someone disconnects?

Life happens. They rejoin by opening the page and entering the same room code + guest name. Everything picks up right where they left off.

Do we need voice chat or is text only?

It's text-based, but we strongly recommend grabbing Discord, FaceTime, or whatever you use to actually talk to your friends. The in-game chat exists for coordination, but solving mysteries out loud? Way more fun. We focus on making great mysteries; you handle the social tech.

Gameplay

Can I play solo or is multiplayer required?

Absolutely play solo! Every mystery is designed for lone detectives. You can also invite friends to collaborate—no pressure either way.

What happens if we can't solve it? (Time limits? Hints?)

No time pressure - investigate at your pace. When you're ready (or out of time), hit "close case" and make your accusation. We've playtested everything - nothing's impossible, though we definitely got some wrong ourselves. The thrill is in trying.

Can we replay mysteries or get spoiled?

Once you own it, you can replay anytime - but the murderer and evidence stay the same. Maybe revisit in a year when the details get fuzzy? Or run it for new friends who haven't played.

Are there different difficulty levels?

Only what you impose. Want hardcore mode? Limit yourself to five questions per suspect. Or interview suspects one at a time before moving on. The AI doesn't hold back - you control the challenge.

How does the AI respond to creative interrogation?

The AI suspects are layered - most are hiding something (classic murder mystery style), so they won't spill everything upfront. Press them. Get creative. Coerce, cajole, catch them in contradictions. The evidence is there if you know how to dig.

Privacy / Security

Is our game session private to our room?

Your room code = your private space while the game's active. After 24 hours or when you close the case, only the host can access it. Your interrogations go through our AI partners to generate responses (that's how the AI works), but we're transparent about that.

What data gets stored? How long?

We keep your game logs so you can review your investigation anytime. If there's an abuse complaint, we store that too. Zero training on your data. Zero transfers. It's your mystery, your conversation.

Can you see our conversations?

Operations staff can access chat logs if there's an abuse complaint. That's the deal - we take safety seriously, but we're not reading for fun.

Are AI responses deterministic or unique per session?

Every interrogation is unique - the AI responds to YOUR questions, YOUR approach. Same murderer, different conversations every time. Pro tip: method act a detective character. It's way more fun.

Do you train models on our gameplay?

No. Hard stop.

Pricing / Access

Is it free? What's the catch?

Not free - you pay for quality, playtested mysteries. Each game includes 3-4 playthroughs worth of credits (shared across all games you own). Run low? Buy more credits or grab another game. Fair pricing for fair mysteries.

Can I try before account creation?

If a friend hosts and uses their credits to run it, sure. Otherwise, someone's gotta pay for the AI compute and quality content.

Content

Content rating? Age appropriate? How graphic are the mysteries?

Murder mysteries with mature themes - we recommend 16+. Some scenarios touch on staged suicide, complex trauma, legal vices (affairs, gambling, smoking). Real people with real problems - that's what makes good mysteries. If you're cool with Sherlock, Poirot, or Knives Out, you're our audience.

All violence is text-only. Zero graphic images.

How often are new mysteries added?

Weekly drops for each category. We LOVE making new mysteries. Watch for special offers.

Can I create custom mysteries?

Not yet - we playtest everything to keep quality high. But if you have an idea you're dying to see, message us. We might make it AND throw you some store credit for the inspiration.
